Catherine McCarty (Coffey), age 96, of Weymouth passed away on April 23, 2017 at South Shore Hospital. Catherine was born, raised, and educated in Waban, MA and attended Sacred Heart in Newton from grades 1-12. She married her beloved husband of 61 years, Norman, in April of 1942. And settled in S. Weymouth to start a family. They both retired to Fort Myers, FL in 1978 where they enjoyed 30 years of retirement. Catherine enjoyed Golf, Volunteering with Veterans organizations, the arts including painting, traveling, and was an avid Boston Sports fan. No matter where she was or what she was doing, Catherine always made time for her family. Catherine’s family would like to extend a very special thank you to the South Shore Hospital and Catherine’s home caregivers Tracey, Kim, Cheryl for the outstanding care they provided for Catherine.

Catherine was predeceased by her husband of 61 years Norman F. McCarty. She is survived by her loving children Norman F. McCarty of Manchester, NH, Marilyn Reilly and her husband Jim of S. Weymouth, and Theresa Gregor and her husband Rich of E. Bridgewater. She is the dedicated sister of Charles Coffey, and the late Helen Till, William Coffey, James Coffey, and George Coffey, cherished grandmother to Christine Powers, James Glendye, Michael McCarty, Larisa Trexler, Ashley Gregor, Joey Gregor, and their families. Catherine is also survived by 8 great-grandchildren, 2 great-great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to the visiting hours for Catherine on Wednesday April 26, 2017 from 4-7pm in the C. C. Shepherd Funeral Home located at 134 Pleasant St. (Columbian Sq.) S. Weymouth, MA. Relatives and friends will gather in the Funeral Home at 8:30 AM on Thursday for a Celebration of Life prior to the Funeral Mass which will take place at St. Francis Xavier Church, Weymouth at 9:30AM. Burial will be in the MA National Cemetery located in Bourne, MA at a later date. Donations in memory of Catherine may be made to Autism Speaks at 85 Devonshire Street, 9th Floor Boston, MA 02109.
