Edward D. McNeil, age 59 of Hingham passed away suddenly on Monday July 25, 2016. Eddie was born in Boston and raised and educated in Holbrook, MA. A graduate of Holbrook High School, Eddie was a track star who won several state medals and often did a daily 26 mile run when he was younger. He was a talented drummer who enjoyed covering Emerson, Lake & Palmer and Grand Funk Railroad with his friends in a local band.

Eddie was trained as a second class fireman and worked for UniFirst in Dorchester while spending weekends working on landscaping projects. After ten years he decided to switch careers and pursue his passion of spending his time outdoors, so he joined Harrison and Associates in Norfolk, MA as an arborist.
Eddie is the beloved husband of Margaret (Jarvis) McNeil. They met at a party on Nantasket Beach and recently celebrated 38 years together. They have been married for 25 years. Through the years they have enjoyed spending time with their family and friends, caring for their beloved pets and traveling. Eddie traveled to Germany, Hawaii, and enjoyed spending time with family in Maine, North Carolina and the Florida Keys where he was an avid snorkeler.

Eddie is the cherished son of Frank McNeil and his wife Bonnie of Staunton, IL and the late Marilyn (Smith) Seaver, and a loving brother to Brye McNeil and Tammy McNeil both of Braintree, Wayne McNeil and his wife Petra of Ohio, and the late Robert McNeil.

Eddie was devoted to his 14 nieces and nephews and 13 great-nieces and great-nephews that cherish him and call him “Uncle Eggie”.

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend visiting hours from 4-8 p.m. on Friday, July 29, 2016 at the C. C. Shepherd Funeral Home located at 134 Pleasant St. (Columbian Sq.) S. Weymouth, MA. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that you make a donation in honor of Eddie to your favorite charity.
