A professional family that's truly a family - the C. C. Shepherd Funeral Home has been serving Weymouth families since 1916 in the same location, a handsome Colonial-Victorian home at 134 Pleasant Street in Columbian Square, South Weymouth.

Here to assist you are:

Douglas Shepherd

Douglas S. Shepherd - Owner & Licensed Funeral Director

Doug Shepherd is the current owner and the fourth generation Shepherd to serve our community and has been doing so for 40 years. Doug graduated Weymouth High in 1969 and New England Funeral Institute which was located in Kenmore Square, Boston in 1972. Doug enjoys continuing his family history in Weymouth and likes serving families that he grew up with side by side in South Weymouth.

Doug has been a member of the Weymouth Rotary since 1984. In his love for supporting and giving back to the community that has been so good to him Doug makes regular donations to Weymouth Youth Sports, Weymouth Fire Department, Weymouth Police, many local churches, and is always looking for new ways to help great local causes.

Garret McDonald

Garret McDonald - Licensed Funeral Director

Garret McDonald is also a fourth generation Weymouth Funeral Director. His father, George McDonald Jr. owned McDonald Funeral Homes also located in Weymouth, along with his three brothers, until 2011 when the Funeral Home was sold. Garret considers himself very lucky to have had the years that he did working and learning under his family’s direction. “Those years I had working with my father and uncles really shaped me as a Funeral Director. They all showed me what people are really looking for when they come to a funeral home; respect, compassion, and most importantly they want to be comfortable.” says Garret.

Doug Shepherd hired Garret in late 2014 to accommodate his growing business and for help in community outreach. Garret graduated Archbishop Williams High School in 2009 and Funeral Institute of New England located in Norwood, MA in 2012.

“I love that I am serving people that my family has been there for in the past. It is important to me to not only meet, but also try to exceed the expectations that the families I serve have for me and my family’s name.” – Garret McDonald

Garret loves volunteering and has been a member of the Weymouth Elks since 2015. He has been volunteering his time to set up the Weymouth Elks Memorial Sunday service to honor deceased Elks for the last ten years.
